We took Woof Pack's group puppy kindergarten class and couldn't be more pleased. The class was fun, informative and our puppy got in some much needed supervised socialization! We have an unusual breed of dog ( Anatolian Shepard) and the trainer's knowledge of the breed and characteristics made it so much easier to identify problem behaviors we were experiencing at home and what could be done to correct them. A+

I have used many trainers over the years in Florida and NC. Not all used positive reinforcement for the basis of their training and over time I have begun to feel uncomfortable with the negative methods I was learning such as shock collars. Taking Mel's class using where positive training methods were implemented was a very enlightening process. My dog Berdie responded better to having an alternative behavior that was more rewarding for her, than any negative correction I had previously tried. We also missed two classes due to illness and she encouraged us to keep going and helped us catch up. I have had several questions since the class and she is always available by email/phone for advice. I would definately recommend the class.

This letter will serve to compliment Melissa MacKinnon for her work during the last year for me and my two " hounds ". Salty ( A Miniture Snauzer ) and RIP ( A German Shepherd ) and I live in Williamsburg, Virgina. The three of us spend time at the house there and additional time at a second house located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Since I am semi retired, we travel back and forth as time permits and as the seasons change around us. We enjoy the beach more in the summer and Williamsburg more during the winter months. This past year we had an event occur that created some real issues for us. I had to travel more frequently than I'd anticipated and at strange times during the week. Therefore, I contacted people both at the beach and in Williamsburg and interviewed various "pet sitters" in both cities.
Having previously lived in the High Country, I also contacted Melissa MacKinnon in the Boone area of North Carolina and after the initial conversation with her I decided she would be the best suited for the job. I was aware of her interest in animals and had observed her with one of her own dogs over the years there. I'd lived in Boone for several years and knew Melissa to be extremely dedicated to her own dogs. I'd also heard that she'd recently undergone training to be a professional dog trainer. The two hounds were extremely well maintained while in Melissa's care ,and I owe her a great deal of thanks. I would suggest that anyone having pets who require assistance similar to my needs consider Melissa without reservation. I feel sure they'd be well served and that their pets would benefit from the love and attention. H.D. HemmingsWilliamsburg, Virginia
