Dog Training
I am a graduate of Animal Behavior College where I earned my certification as an ABC Certified Dog Trainer. Animal Behavior College (ABC) is approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education and is an internationally recognized school. My year long commitment to this program has provided me with a formal education in canine obedience training and understanding behavior and its motives. My certification, education and experience provide me the skills required to effectively and humanely train your dog while keeping alive the spark that makes your dog so special to you.
I am also an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.
Puppy Kindergarten is a class for puppies from 4 months - 1 year in age focusing on socialization, problem puppy behaviors.leash walking and 6 of the basic commands.
Basic Obedience is a class for dogs over 1 year in age focusing on learning 12 basic commands with distraction and proper leash walking.
AKC Programs - Dogs do NOT have to be purebred to participate in either program
AKC STAR Puppy Program is for puppies (up to 1 year) who want to get a head start on their Canine Good Citizen skills and work through puppy problem behaviors. At the end of the 6 weeks your puppy will be tested to be enrolled in the AKC S.T.A.R program
AKC Canine Good Citizen is a class for dogs (over 1 year) who are working towards their 10 skills in the Canine Good Citizen Certification.At the end of the 6 weeks your dog will be evaluated to become an AKC Canine Good Citizen.
Currently I offer group and private training classes to help you and your canine companion through a variety of issues. Below are some of the things we can address:
- Basic Obedience- Sit, Stay, Down, Recall, etc.
- Behavior Counseling- Barking, Digging, Jumping, Chewing
- Housetraining
- Puppy Training and Socialization
My classes:
- All private training sessions are one hour in length and will include demonstrations and exercises to help your dog achieve the skills needed. I will also provide homework after each session for you the owner to practice until our next visit.

Please read this if you are considering training sessions. For clients experiencing behavioral problems I usually do a mix of Basic Obedience and specific problem solving during each session. At the end of each of my sessions I give homework assignments for the owner to practice before the next session. It is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY that the owner put in the time to do these homework assigments with the dog at the frequency suggested. Basic Obedience is ESSENTIAL to correcting problem behaviors because it will teach the dog alternative, positive behaviors and reinforce the owners position as leader in the home. Correcting behavioral issues and practicing Basic Obedience take time, patience and consistency. While it would be ideal for me to come into your home and resolve an issue in one or two sessions with no additional time and effort put in by the owner, this is not the reality in most cases.
